$25 (nonmembers $28) + $5 park fee/pass. Long hike: 9.1 mi., 1900 ft. ascent, 2600 ft. descent. Short hike: 6.3 mi., 1250 ft. ascent, 1400 ft. descent.
Still more of the Appalachian Trail today! Non-stop views from the crest of the Blue Ridge are featured on this hike, one we do almost every winter, along a high-elevation stretch of the AT in Shenandoah’s Northern District. The long hike starts at Rattlesnake Point on the Skyline Drive and follows the trail northbound across the summits of Little Hogback Mtn. and South and North Marshall Mtns. Short hikers join the route at Gravel Springs Gap.
