NOTE:  Due to street closings in the area of 16th and I Streets for the National Marathon on Saturday , there will be NO DC PICK-UP.   Rosslyn will be the 1st bus pick-up stop  (at the Key Bridge Marriott Hotel bus stop, NOT by the Rosslyn metro station).

Also, note that due to the excessive rain and snow melt (no snow on the trail anymore), the trail is likely to be quite wet and muddy.  Waterproof boots and gaiters are highly recommended.

At last!  After our long, brutal winter, spring is only one day away!  If we’re lucky, we’ll see signs of it on this longtime favorite deep in George Washington National Forest.  We’ll start from Rt. 613 on the east side of the mountain and ascend the Sherman Gap Trail to the ridge top, then follow the Massanutten Mtn. East Trail south to Veach Gap.  From there, short hikers descend to the bus on Rt. 774 in bucolic Fort Valley.  Long hikers troop on to Milford Gap, and then descend to Rt. 758 in the valley.
